They were not edging him out, but Jane was really not a romantic person. At least when it came to whether to set free or eat after hard fishing, she absolutely would choose the latter.
Originally, the reason Vincent arranged this meal was to feel Jane out and saw her reaction after knowing that the mole was found. Unexpectedly, it seemed that Edward was more attracted to her.
Vincent's nightlife started after dinner. Knowing that Jane would not let him drive her home, he didn't ask her if she need a ride and left first after saying goodbye to them.
Edward said to Jane, "Get in."
Jane refused as she always did. "No thanks. I can take a taxi."
Edward said, "I'm driving that way, and also I have something to tell you."
