Chapter 23 Call Me Dad
Jane changed her clothes and got into the Smith family's car. After the car drove to a nearby hospital, she lifted her leg and stepped down, feeling a burning pain in the bend of her right knee. She held on to the car door before she stood up straight.
In the emergency room on the night shift, Justin with a face injury was sitting on the bed, with the doctor standing beside him, and Edward and Jane not far across from him.
While examining the injury, the doctor routinely asked, "How did you get injured?"
Justin didn't speak, and Edward didn't speak either. The indifferent faces of the two of them forced Jane to speak, "...He was helping me. I met a bad guy. He was hurt because he was helping me."
The doctor was slightly surprised, then boasted, "Well done, young man. That was very gallant of you at your age."
Justin said unhappily, "Are you finished? I want to leave."
