Desiree's POV
I was intrigued today as I read about my father's high hospital expenses while eating my dessert and drinking my cup of coffee. Carl approaches me, and I sense that he is waving at me from a distance, so I do the same.
So here we go again, he smiled at me and walked towards me.
"How are you doing?" He asks whether I'm okay and if he were in my shoes, he would cry.
"Actually, I'm quite decent," I muttered something like that and smiled at him before slipping the receipt inside my bag. As he sat down in front of me, he scratched his nose and signaled the waiter to take some order, saying, "Same order, please." The server nodded and walked away.
"I don't think I'll see you again after graduation; I assumed you'd travel abroad or something."
I chuckled, I am not the same as before, he dont understand that I am so poor now.
