Crystal chandeliers bathed the ballroom in a light as bright as day. The air was a luxurious mix of champagne, perfume, and expensive cigars.
It was the annual “European Business Leader of the Year” awards gala. The audience was comprised of five hundred political and business elites, including three former presidents, two members of royalty, and half of Europe’s billionaires.
I sat at the head table, next to Liam—my husband, and the Chairman of Sterling's Global Management Committee.
