On the flight back to Paris, I slept for ten hours.
No dreams. Just a deep, heavy sleep, like a stone sinking into the ocean, enveloped in silence and darkness.
The flight attendant tried to wake me for meals several times, but Arthur—who insisted on accompanying me back to Paris to handle the aftermath—stopped her.
“Let her sleep,” he said. “She needs this.”
