Just then, the TV on the wall crackled to life with a news report: "The once-prominent Vance Corporation, plagued by financial issues, declared bankruptcy this morning. The company has been acquired by Apex Industries. Aidan Vance, the eldest son of the family, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for conspiracy and attempted murder."
Kaelen stared at Cassia, taking a moment to process the news. "So, it was Aidan who kidnapped me and Finnian?"
Cassia stared back at him, her eyes wide, the muscles in her cheeks trembling. "I've investigated everything that happened back then. I owed you this truth for four years, and I've only just been able to give it to you. I know I did so many terrible things to you, and I can't make up for it. But I hope you'll give me a chance to try."
