Cassia’s brow furrowed. She lowered her head, her fingers clenched, her breathing heavy. Her chest rose and fell, and though she wanted to rush forward and demand answers, she held back.
Kaelen’s face was a sheet of white, his voice hoarse and trembling. A thin layer of moisture veiled his eyes, and he glared at her with a mixture of loathing and fury. "My explanation is this: I am now an employee of NovaGene, the person responsible for this partnership with you. Is that explanation enough?"
Cassia's eyes burned into him, her face tense, her dark gaze relentless, her words an accusation. "I thought you were dead. For four whole years. And now, here you are. Don't you think you owe me an explanation, Kaelen Rivers!"
