A wave of joy washed over Cassia. Her gaze, soft as water, was fixed on Kaelen, the deep emotion in her eyes undisguised, surging like a tidal wave.
Kaelen smiled, but the curve of his lips was tinged with contempt. Not just his smile, but his eyes too seemed to be lined with daggers. His tone was anything but friendly. "Ms. Thorne, have you ever heard the saying? In the face of money, there are no fathers and sons; in the face of self-interest, there are no brothers. We are here to discuss a business partnership, not to reminisce."
His expression was one of cold composure, as if he were completely indifferent to all of Cassia's insinuations.
