Lost eyes: Endless love

Chapter 8

A grief deeper than death settled in his heart.

Kaelen’s eyes instantly turned red.

How could he have forgotten what happened two months ago? If Cassia could let her own staff abuse him, why would she ever save him?

Kaelen stopped struggling, allowing the women to drag him back into the private room.

In the dim, shadowy room, the air was filled with laughter and jeers.

The world went black, and Kaelen fainted.

...

When Kaelen next awoke, he was in a hospital bed.

He opened his eyes and saw Cassia standing beside him, her expression glacial.

"There's nothing seriously wrong with you. Just low blood sugar."

Kaelen said nothing.

Soon, Cassia spoke again.

"And one more thing. I'm pregnant. A little over two months."

Kaelen’s face turned ashen.

"Pregnant…"

Two months…

He stared at Cassia, his voice trembling.

"You're carrying someone else's child?"

He had been taking the pills. It was impossible for him to have gotten her pregnant.

Cassia didn't answer him.

Kaelen clenched his fists. "You can't keep this child."

"Are you insane?!"

Kaelen stared at her, his eyes welling with moisture. "Cassia, the one who's truly insane is you!"

"I didn't do anything, so why did you and Aidan frame me? Why did you hurt me?! And now you're carrying another man's child just to humiliate me."

Cassia frowned. "You're being irrational!"

With those four words, she turned and walked away.

After she left, Kaelen struggled to his feet, clinging to the bed for support as he staggered out of the room.

But just as he reached the doorway, he saw the tall figure of Aidan Vance in the hallway.

Aidan was on the phone, a smile on his face. He didn't look sick at all.

The moment Kaelen saw him, all the suffering he had endured recently rushed back to him.

Just then, Aidan noticed him. He ended the call and walked over, a triumphant smirk playing on his lips.

"Kaelen Rivers, I hear you don't have long to live. Congratulations."

Congratulations? Not long to live?

Kaelen’s pupils constricted.

"What do you mean?"

"You don't know? You have stomach cancer. Terminal. You're not going to be around for much longer."

He didn't say another word. He just raised his fist and slammed it into Aidan’s face.

THWACK!

The punch stunned Aidan.

When he recovered, he clutched his face, roaring in disbelief. "Kaelen Rivers! You dare to hit me!"

"Someone! Grab this animal! I want him dead!"

At Aidan's command, several bodyguards who were standing nearby rushed over.

Kaelen recognized them.

They were Cassia's men.

And they listened to Aidan. They descended on Kaelen without hesitation, punching and kicking him.

One blow, two, three…

Kaelen didn't fight back.

He wondered, if he just died like this, would he finally be free?

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out from a distance. "What are you doing? Stop!"

Hearing someone approach, Aidan had no choice but to call off the bodyguards, and they quickly left.

Seraphina Morrow rushed to Kaelen’s side and helped him up. "Kaelen, are you okay? How dare they! Beating someone up in a hospital!"

Kaelen saw it was her and shook his head.

"I'm fine. Thank you."

Seraphina looked at the bruises on his face, her expression worried. "Come on, I'll take you to a doctor."

Kaelen was about to refuse when a cold voice cut through the air.

"I had no idea Ms. Morrow was acquainted with Cassia Thorne's man."

Kaelen followed the sound of the voice and his face paled instantly.
