He was doing it again, he was hitting my mum, I knew he was going to hurt her if he continued hitting her like that so I left where I was hiding with my younger sister and rushed to my mum's side, I shielded her with my body and the next punch landed on my back making me groan.
"Liam, stop! Go away from here," my mum said trying to push me away from her but I hugged her tight against my chest, I could hear the monster I called my dad yelling and cussing, I heard as he dragged the steel rod across the floor and I felt the rod land hard on my back, he hit me over and over till I passed out.
"Liam, wake up, please wake up," I heard someone say hitting my back gently.
"Please wake up Liam," the person said again and I opened my eyes slowly.
Everything came back to me, I realized it was a nightmare and I was not back in that house, I realized I was safe.
"Liam, are you okay?" Laura asked and I realized I was holding her tight against my chest, I quickly released her and I sat up.
