Love against the wind

Chapter 8

Everyone knew the necklace she was wearing was a one-of-a-kind piece from a famous designer, worth millions.

Her outburst put everyone on edge, each person terrified of being accused of theft.

As everyone frantically searched for the necklace, Quinn's gaze suddenly fell on Sienna.

"Sienna, I took my necklace off in the restroom and left it on the counter. You were the only one in there at the time."

"Did you take my necklace?"

All eyes turned to Sienna. Many were quick to jump to conclusions and started whispering.

"It must have been her. She's definitely jealous of Quinn, so she stole her necklace."

"Yeah, who else could it be? I think I even saw her coming out of the restroom earlier."

"Sienna, I suggest you return the necklace to Quinn before this gets out of hand. You don't want the police involved. Not only will it be humiliating, but you'll also have a criminal record."

"That necklace is worth millions. If you're convicted, you could go to prison!"

Sienna scoffed inwardly. These people were so quick to take sides. They believed whatever Quinn said, even making up lies to support her.

She looked up at Quinn. "I didn't take your necklace. I was just outside getting some fresh air. I haven't been to the restroom. Where did you supposedly see me following you in there?"

Quinn smirked, her tone laced with sarcasm. "I was trying to give you a chance. I thought if you just gave it back, I'd let it go."

"But since you won't admit it... I saw you in the restroom with my own eyes. Are you calling me a liar?"

"Sienna, I know you're upset that Julian threw such a grand party for me, but that's no reason to do something like this."

Sienna laughed, not out of anger, but out of sheer disbelief. "I have never been upset with you."

Because, to her, Julian was no longer important.

His concern, his love—she didn't want any of it.

Quinn was furious. She didn't want to waste any more words and ordered the security guards beside her to step forward.

"Don't bother talking to her. The necklace is definitely on her. Search her. If you find it, I'll reward you handsomely!"

Sienna was wearing a simple, black slip dress. There was nowhere to hide a necklace. It was obvious to anyone with eyes that Quinn was just trying to humiliate her.

But the crowd just watched, eager for a show. Not a single person stepped up to speak for her.

She clutched the front of her dress and backed away, but the guards were faster, forming a human wall to block her path.

"What are you waiting for? Search her!"

At Quinn's command, the guards no longer hesitated and lunged at her.

"Let go of me!"

"I can prove I didn't take it!"

But no one listened to her explanations. She fought back, trying to stop them, but she was no match for their combined strength.

Rough hands grabbed her shoulders, pinning her against the wall as the others began to grope her.

"Let go of me! You have no right to search me!"

The sound of her dress ripping was sharp and piercing. Countless hands roamed over her body. She bit her lip, filled with despair and rage.

The bright, dazzling lights of the party stung her eyes.

Everyone in the room stared, watching as she endured this humiliation.

And Julian, the man who had once been etched into her very soul, simply stood behind Quinn, a silent spectator, letting it all happen to protect his precious childhood friend.
