After He Erased My Memory, I Came Back for Revenge

Chapter 9

After Ethan returned home, he completely broke down.

He drowned his sorrows in alcohol every day, locking himself in his room and refusing to see anyone.

He also neglected company affairs, ignoring documents and meetings completely.

The man who once dominated the business world now turned a blind eye to the company's declining performance and employee unrest.

Lily watched Ethan's increasing depression with both anger and anxiety.

She tried to comfort him, preparing meals for him every day, but each time she was coldly pushed away, the food knocked to the floor.

The room reeked of rotten food and pungent alcohol, making it unbearable.

One day, Lily finally couldn't take it anymore.

She walked into Ethan's room. The room was dark and airless, curtains tightly drawn, with only a weak ray of light seeping through the gaps, barely illuminating the bottles scattered on the floor.

Lily frowned, carefully stepping over the bottles to reach Ethan's side, and said loudly, "Ethan, how long are you going to be like this? Claire Caldwell doesn't belong to you anymore. Why can't you accept reality and live a good life with me? We still have to go on living!"

Ethan raised his head, his eyes unfocused, his bloodshot eyes looking at Lily with disgust and hatred.

"It's all because of you. If it weren't for you, why would Claire have left me? Get out! I don't want to see you anymore!"

Lily was heartbroken by his words, tears filling her eyes as she cried, "Ethan, I love you so much. I'd do anything for you. Why do you treat me like this? I'm the one who's always been by your side!"

But Ethan remained unmoved. He grabbed a bottle from the table and smashed it violently on the floor, glass shards flying everywhere.

"Love me? Is this how you love me? You only bring me pain! If it weren't for you, how would Claire and I have ended up like this? You're nothing but bad luck!"

Lily looked at the out-of-control Ethan, her heart filled with fear and despair.

She turned to leave, but Ethan grabbed her. "You can't leave. This is all your fault. You have to take responsibility for this! You can't just abandon me!"

Lily struggled, crying out, "Ethan, let go of me. You're hurting me! Snap out of it!"

Ethan had lost all reason by this point. He held Lily tightly, and in their struggle, his hands accidentally wrapped around Lily's neck.

Lily fought desperately, using both hands to pry at Ethan's grip, her feet kicking wildly as she tried to break free.

But Ethan seemed to have gone completely mad, showing no signs of letting go, muttering continuously, "Why? Why did you take Claire away from me..."

By the time Ethan came to his senses, Lily was already lifeless.

He released his hands in horror, looking at Lily's body, and collapsed to the floor.

His hands trembled uncontrollably, his eyes filled with terror and regret, mumbling to himself, "I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to..."

Eventually, Ethan was arrested by the police for involuntary manslaughter and thrown in prison.

The once high-spirited man had completely fallen, paying a terrible price for his actions.

Meanwhile, I had recovered my memories overseas under the treatment of a renowned hypnotherapist.

Naturally, I remembered everything that had happened between Ethan and me.

When I learned about Ethan's imprisonment, I was lying on the beach sunbathing.

Jaxon was the one who told me this news.

"What? Worried about him?" Jaxon looked at me.

I smiled faintly. "He brought it all on himself."

I picked up the wine glass beside me and clinked it with his.

"Here's to the rest of our lives together."
