After He Erased My Memory, I Came Back for Revenge

Chapter 3

The next day, the Weston family sent over the engagement gifts.

Looking at the luxurious presents arranged from the doorway all the way to the living room, surprise flashed in my eyes.

When Lily married into that family in our past life, she didn't receive such treatment.

I'd heard the heir of that wealthy family was very difficult to get along with, which was why Lily felt so neglected.

Maybe they thought this time they were getting a different bride and wanted to show sincerity, so they arranged it this way.

I opened the gift list and saw the heir's name - Jaxon Weston.

The name sounded quite nice.

And he seemed to be of Asian descent.

The wedding was scheduled for four days later.

I smiled wryly. It was the same day as Ethan and Lily's wedding.

What a coincidence.

He would marry Lily domestically while I married abroad.

For the rest of our lives, we would have no connection whatsoever.

After packing my luggage, I went to the bustling night market.

In the center of the market, someone was performing street magic, with spectacular tricks that drew cheers from the surrounding crowd.

I watched, somewhat mesmerized.

In our past life, Ethan had practiced magic to surprise me.

He accidentally injured himself during practice, leaving a visible scar.

I scolded him with heartache, but he smiled at me under the lights, his eyes full of love.

"Claire, this scar on my hand is like a mark I've left for you. I can never leave you in this lifetime. From now on, all my true feelings will burn only for you."

"Wow!"

With the audience's exclamation, the performance ended and the magician removed his mask.

My breath caught - it was Ethan!

The scene overlapped with our past life. He smiled and walked toward me, his gaze burning with deep emotion.

"Did you like it?"

My eyes reddened and my body trembled slightly.

Just when I thought everything had returned to how it was before, that the events after our rebirth were just a nightmare, I suddenly heard sweet laughter behind me, particularly grating.

"I loved it." Lily ran forward happily and grabbed Ethan's hand.

"Ethan, thank you for the special performance just for me."

My raised foot slowly lowered.

A tear slid down from the corner of my eye, my heart full of bitterness.

So he could leave scars for me, and he could do the same for others.

He said he was just saving her, but apparently that required giving so much of his heart.

He seemed to want to give her everything he'd given me in our past life, all within these few days.

Then why bother? If he couldn't bear to part with her, why didn't he just give me up from the beginning?

I turned to leave, but someone called out to me.

Ethan hurried forward, frowning with an anxious voice.

"Claire, it really is you. It's so late - why are you here alone? What if you ran into bad people?"

I looked at his anxious expression, my eyes completely cold.

"Ethan, how I am seems to have nothing to do with you."

"You're about to be my brother-in-law. Calling me by my first name isn't very appropriate, is it?"

Ethan's face stiffened.

Lily affectionately linked her arm through his, smugness hidden in her eyes.

"Claire, Ethan and I are getting married soon. You're my sister and will be his family too. He loves me so much - loving the house and its crow, caring about you is perfectly normal, isn't it?"

"I saw you watching the magic pretty intently. This is something Ethan learned for me after a long time. He even hurt his hands in several places. Did you think it was good?"

I remained calm and smiled slightly.

"It was good. He worked very hard for you."

Ethan stared at me, gentle waves appearing in his eyes.

"Do you... want to see it again? If you like it, I can perform for you."

I looked at him calmly.

"She's your fiancée. Making her happy is what you should do. What would performing for me mean?"

"Unless you have other intentions toward me? Men who can't make up their minds just make me sick."

In the night, Ethan's face went pale. He stared at me blankly, unable to say a word.

I turned around. "I won't disturb you two anymore. I'll leave first."
