Celia didn't reply. She was about to turn off her phone.
*Ding. Ding.*
The special notification tone kept sounding. Flynn's messages were flooding in, one after another.
"Celia, what kind of sick game are you playing now?"
"Tomorrow is my wedding to Evelyn. Don't talk about erasing your identity. Even if you really were terminally ill and died, you couldn't stop us from getting married."
…
The light from the phone screen illuminated Celia's calm face.
She slowly typed a reply to Flynn: "Don't worry, I'm leaving soon. I won't be a bother to any of you for much longer."
After sending it, she turned off her phone.
Celia even went to a dealership and bought a brand-new car, which she drove ostentatiously back to Elysium.
She had just parked and stepped out of the car when she saw Flynn striding towards her.
His eyes were dark, his tone urgent.
"What do you mean, you're leaving? Your parents and your daughter are all in Seacliff. Where could you possibly go?"
Celia smiled, her reply dismissive. "I was just talking."
"But don't worry. When I said I wished you and Evelyn a long and happy life together, I meant it. I will never disrupt your marriage."
Celia's expression was open and sincere.
But the more Flynn listened, the more the irritation in his chest grew. Still, no one knew better than him how much Celia loved him. She would never be able to leave him.
Flynn took a breath to compose himself. "My parents want me to bring you to the family estate for New Year's Eve dinner. You did give me a daughter, after all."
"You can stay the night, and then go straight to my wedding with Evelyn tomorrow."
Celia's face was a blank mask. "No, thank you. I wouldn't want to spoil the mood for the elders on New Year's."
Five years of marriage and they never wanted her there. Now that she was about to disappear, they wanted to use her one last time to make Evelyn look good. Flynn really knew how to be disgusting.
Celia was about to leave when a swarm of reporters suddenly surrounded them.
Before Celia could react, cameras were pointed at her, and a microphone was shoved in her face.
"Celia Thorne, your parents posted online that you're an ungrateful brat, a beast who seduced her own sister's fiancé. What are your thoughts on that?"
Celia replied calmly, "No thoughts."
"Your daughter claims you abused her and has started calling your sister 'Mommy.' Are you aware of this?"
"I am."
"Mr. Caldwell is spending three hundred million on a lavish wedding for your sister. Are you jealous?"
Celia looked straight into the camera and said, word for word—
"I wish them nothing but happiness."
"That's enough!"
Hearing Celia's nonchalant answers, Flynn's irritation boiled over. He waved over the hotel security, who promptly kicked the reporters out.
After the reporters were gone, Flynn's face was as black as thunder.
"Celia, you better not be playing games with what you just said."
Celia met his gaze, her smile effortless. "Brother-in-law, I'm being sincere."
Flynn froze, a flicker of panic in his eyes, a tightness constricting his chest.
He couldn't pinpoint the source of this feeling, so he pushed it down.
"Good. Now, come with me to the family estate for dinner."
He reached out to pull Celia, but she just dangled her new car keys from her finger and smiled. "I'll drive myself. It's a new Maybach. Fifty million, you know."
Seeing that she was willing to go to the estate, Flynn didn't press the issue.
He just said, "Whatever. Just make sure to follow my car."
Flynn turned and got into his black Maybach.
Celia watched him go, the smile fading from her face.
Of course, she had no intention of going to the Caldwell estate.
She didn't argue because, at that moment, the System's voice echoed in her mind: 【Time remaining until Host's departure from this world: 00:10:00】
In ten minutes, she would be gone.
Celia followed Flynn's black Maybach onto the road. While waiting at a red light, her phone pinged.
She opened it and saw that Evelyn had posted on social media.
【The rest of my life is long, and I'm so glad I didn't miss you. @FlynnCaldwell】
The picture was a selfie of her holding a marriage certificate, with Flynn's arm wrapped around her.
She opened the comments, and it was a stream of congratulations.
The top comments were from her parents and her daughter.
Her Parents: 【True love finally finds its way. Wishing our darling daughter a happy wedding and a long life together.】
Her Daughter, Willow: 【Auntie Evelyn and Daddy are finally married! I have a new mommy! My new mommy is the best mommy in the world.】
Celia laughed once and turned off her phone.
At the same time, the System announced: 【Time remaining until Host's departure from this world: 00:01:00】
Celia looked up, her gaze fixed on the distant tail lights of the Maybach. Then, she turned her head towards the vast, clear ocean nearby. A slow smile spread across her lips. She suddenly felt incredibly light.
After all, the System was about to lead her to a new life.
Celia unlocked her phone, liked Evelyn's post, and then published her final message.
【Goodbye, this loveless world.】
Then she slammed her foot on the accelerator and drove straight into the endless, deep sea!
