The Pinnacle just happened to be a Caldwell property.
The lively birthday party fell into a dead silence. In the vast hall, only the cold, identical expressions of the father and daughter on the screen remained.
The live feed was quickly cut, but Celia's birthday party was already over.
Celia was escorted out of The Pinnacle by security.
Her last birthday in this world had ended in ruin.
…
After the birthday party, Celia became a public laughingstock. The internet was flooded with insults and vitriol aimed at her.
They photoshopped her face onto tombstones and spread slutty rumors about her.
Celia was leaving soon anyway. She turned off her phone, refusing to let any of it touch her.
She locked herself away in the 99th-floor VIP suite at Elysium.
In truth, her body was getting weaker and weaker. Even though the System had blocked the pain, she felt drained of all energy and often coughed up blood.
In a daze, she thought she saw Flynn's familiar figure again.
He was holding a bowl of medicine, just like in the early days of their marriage. He would look at her with such gentle eyes, sitting by her bed to take care of her. "You're awake. Drink the medicine while it's hot."
"You're here…"
Celia subconsciously reached out her hand.
*Knock, knock!*
A sharp knock on the door echoed through the room.
The medicine vanished. The man vanished.
Celia came back to her senses and laughed at herself. She struggled out of bed to open the door, thinking it was room service. But when she opened it—
The face that greeted her was Flynn's.
Confused, she watched as Flynn frowned, his expression unnatural. "The live broadcast where I disowned you was for your own good. Otherwise, your parents would have sued you. Actually, if you just apologize to Evelyn and admit you slandered her, I…"
Celia felt incredibly weak. Even just standing was making her legs tremble. She didn't want to hear another word of Flynn defending Evelyn.
She raised her hand to slam the door shut, but Flynn blocked it with his arm. He pulled a bright red invitation from his pocket and handed it to her.
"Evelyn said that no matter what you've done to her, you're still her sister. In four days, she hopes you'll attend our wedding to clear up the misunderstanding."
What a nice way to phrase it. A "misunderstanding."
Celia suppressed the wave of bitterness rising in her throat and took the invitation, her face a mask of indifference. "Don't worry. I know you're madly in love with Evelyn. I'll be sure to wish you a long and happy life together."
By the time their wedding day arrived, she would be long gone.
Flynn was taken aback, seemingly not expecting Celia to be so agreeable. A strange feeling washed over him.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something more, but Celia slammed the door shut with a loud *bang*.
The moment she was back in the room, she coughed up two more mouthfuls of blood.
Just then, the System's voice announced: 【Countdown to Host's departure from this world: 3 days.】
Celia wiped the blood from her lips and looked out the window. Her gaze fell on the tallest billboard in the city, which was currently displaying Flynn and Evelyn's wedding photos.
They looked so in love, a perfect match.
…
For her last three days, Celia wanted to live with a smile.
As night fell.
She pushed through her weakness, cleaned herself up, changed her clothes, and called for her paid companions. She even hired a few dozen bodyguards before taking her entourage to the most popular male escort club in Seacliff.
Three days left. She didn't want any more interruptions.
However, as Celia and her crew arrived at the club's entrance, she once again ran into Flynn and Willow.
Both wore cold expressions as they approached her. The low pressure radiating from Flynn made people instinctively step back.
"Celia, if I hadn't paid off the reporters, do you have any idea that you'd be trending again today?"
"My sister and I are getting married in four days. No matter how unhappy you are, you shouldn't be degrading yourself in a place like this."
Willow, her face set in a scowl, added her disapproval. "Mommy, are you trying to steal Auntie Evelyn's spotlight?"
Celia looked at the father-daughter duo, a mocking glint in her eyes.
Degrading herself?
She was trying to find some damn happiness.
She flashed them a brilliant smile. "Mr. Caldwell, Miss Caldwell, you're overthinking things. I came here to have fun, for my own sake. It has nothing to do with you."
"And by the way, I wish you and my sister a happy wedding and a long life together."
"I also wish Miss Caldwell the best in finding the mother of her dreams."
