The game of lies

Chapter 4

“Evelyn, let me explain.”

Ethan rushed to embrace me.

“She was just an accident.”

“So, you didn’t marry me all these years because you married her, right?”

I stared into his eyes.

“It was just a business arrangement…”

"Whap!" I could no longer hold back and slapped him hard.

Tears streamed down my face as my body trembled.

“You lied to me for six years.”

“Ethan, are you even human?”

“How can I and our son continue living in this house?”

Ethan's face was left with a red mark, but he didn't get angry. He knelt in front of me.

“Evelyn, it doesn't change anything, right?”

“She won’t be in town for long; she’ll be gone in a while.”

“So, you want me to continue being the other woman?”

He didn’t say anything.

I pushed him away.

“I’m taking my son and leaving.”

As I turned to leave, he shouted, enraged, “I won’t let you.”

“Don’t even think about seeing your son. Wait until you calm down.”

I stood there, feeling a deep chill.

Ethan sent our son, Leo, abroad to live when he was born, saying he wanted him to have a good education. He never told me where he was.

Now, he was using him to threaten me.

I left the house.

I couldn't bear to live with him anymore.

I stayed at the hospital dormitory temporarily and video-called Leo.

But the person who answered the phone was his nanny.

“Ma’am, the boss said he doesn’t want you to see Leo right now.”

“Slam.” The phone slipped from my hands.

Ethan used to be so gentle with me, so doting.

I never imagined he would treat me like this one day.

So, is the cold, heartless Ethan the real him?

My heart was filled with sorrow and anger.

I called Ethan again.

But the person who answered was Olivia.

“Who is this?”

Her voice was laced with anger.

“Why is my husband using a separate phone to contact you, and why does he have you saved as ‘Wife’?”

At that moment, my blood seemed to freeze.

Ethan used a separate phone to contact me.

I had no idea how to explain my identity.

I didn’t have the right to explain.

I was a coward, and I hung up the phone.

Then, I covered my mouth and sobbed.

My grandmother worked so hard to send me to college because she wanted me to succeed.

Before she passed away, she told me, "Evelyn, be careful when choosing a boyfriend. I hope you have a happy marriage."

But now, I’d been deceived and played with by a man for six years.

I really regretted choosing to be with Ethan.
