Marilyn was pleased with the progress she had made. Aiden needed to learn a valuable lesson. He had been given an opportunity, and he had snatched it away from her. Nobody has ever refused her! He had hurt her ego when he married Sydney. She'd always thought of him as hers. When they were dating, they had such a good time. He was well-to-do, attractive, and of equal standing. Her father, who had previously thought of her as a disappointment, was overjoyed when she told him Aiden was her boyfriend.
Everything was going perfectly when her one mistake ruined everything. She thought back about the night when she had ended up with two guys, after a night of drunken debauchery. Those guys being Aiden's friends made things worse. It wasn't a big deal for Marilyn, she didn't realize Aiden would be so prude. Despite her pleadings, he broke up with her. Saying, he couldn't stand cheating.
It was an oversight. She should have realized Aiden was too much of a man, he was jealous and possessive. He would never share his woman. They had a huge row and he had walked out on her. He did forgive her and patched things up later on and remained friends. But she never regained his trust. So, she had to make a change of plan. It was a stroke of good luck that Eric approached her for help. He had seen her jealousy when Aiden spurned her for Sydney at the theatre party. They had bonded over several rounds of wine and formulated a plan. Eric wanted to ruin Reiners. When she asked him the reason, he was given a cryptic answer. It was something deeply personal.
He offered her to join him. They would ruin the Reiners financially. Then Marilyn would offer to bail Aiden out, on the condition that he marries her. It was a foolproof plan. They got their first setback when Aiden suddenly married Sydney. When they implicated Sydney in the drug case, Marilyn just wanted to get rid of her. Instead, Aiden married her!
'I should have got her killed instead,' she thought angrily.
