With tears in her eyes, she walked toward me and grabbed my hand. In that classic, dramatic New York girl way, she said, “Miss Vance, I am so sorry. I had no idea this ring meant so much to you. I just thought it was pretty, so I asked Damian for it.”
“I figured you have so much jewelry, unlike me, I have nothing. I thought you wouldn't mind. Please don’t be mad. I’ll give it back to you right now.”
She then started trying to pull the ring off her finger, but after struggling for a while, it wouldn’t budge. Her finger just turned red.
I almost laughed out loud.
This wasn’t an apology. This was a deliberate provocation.
If she was truly sorry, she wouldn't have shown up wearing my wedding ring so proudly.
This whole act was clearly for an audience of one.
Sure enough, a moment later, Damian walked over.
He grabbed Sabrina’s hand, his face filled with concern.
“If you can’t get it off, then don’t. You’ll hurt yourself. How about this, Elara? I’ll buy it from you for three million dollars.”
Sabrina looked up at Damian, her eyes glistening with adoration.
I just stood there, forced to watch their disgusting display of affection. My eyes burned with rage.
“It’s not for sale. This is the wedding ring I designed for our alliance. Take it off, now!”
Damian frowned, annoyed.
Sabrina clung to his arm and said in a sweet, understanding voice, “Damian, it’s okay. It belongs to Miss Vance. I should give it back.”
She went to the bathroom, used some soap, and finally managed to slip the ring off. She handed it to me.
I took it, but the moment I saw it up close, my blood boiled.
“You had it resized?”
She cowered behind Damian, looking scared.
“It was a little too big for me, so I had someone adjust it.”
“I’m so, so sorry. I’ll find the best jeweler to change it back for you.”
I couldn’t control my anger anymore. I raised my hand and slapped her across the face.
“You had it made smaller! How can you possibly change it back?”
“Sabrina, you are absolutely disgusting.”
“Elara!”
Damian roared, stepping in front of Sabrina to shield her.
“Don’t you dare go too far! I’m the one who gave her the ring. Why are you blaming her instead of me?”
I looked at him with cold eyes, suddenly remembering the real villain. I raised my hand and slapped him too.
Damian’s face instantly darkened.
“You think I’m not disgusted by you? You and Sabrina both make me sick.”
“Get out. And don’t ever let me see you again.”
With that, I stormed out with my people, not giving a damn about the looks on their faces.
