Aurora Never Lies

Chapter 3

The song ended, and the spotlight focused on the center of the dance floor.

Nathan got down on one knee and took a red Cartier box from his pocket.

Victoria covered her mouth, her eyes wide with disbelief.

It was a bracelet—Antarctic ice crystals as the base, diamonds forming a flowing aurora, the main stone dazzling.

"You took me to see the aurora in Antarctica," Nathan said softly. "Today, I picked it from the sky for you. This bracelet has a guardian stone to protect you from getting hurt again."

Victoria nodded, crying, her tears reflecting rainbow colors in the light of the gems.

I gripped my champagne glass until my knuckles turned white.

Three months ago, Nathan asked me to design a brand logo. The theme was "Aurora Guardian."

I thought he was finally going to propose. Back in college, when we saw the Northern Lights in Reykjavik, he said he would propose to me under the aurora.

I pulled countless all-nighters. From concept to design, from color to material, I poured my heart into every detail—that was my entire imagination of our future.

I thought it was my engagement gift.

It turned out he was giving it to her.

He took my creativity, my memories, my heart's blood, and gave it to another woman.

My stomach suddenly cramped violently. My vision blurred.

I held onto the wall, making my way to the restroom.

It hurt too much.

"Miss? Are you okay?"

Someone was calling me.

Then, everything went black.
