His Poisoned Love

Chapter 5

【Looks like you're too stunned to even reply. Thinking of just ending it all?】

I couldn't be bothered with Sierra's taunts. All I could think was that the man had absolutely terrible taste.

I dialed a recent number. "What's the status? Did Silas agree?" I asked in a low voice.

The person on the other end replied, "Mr. Vance has agreed to transfer all the assets from his offshore companies to you."

I hung up, satisfied. For the first time in a while, I felt a sense of relief.

I opened my safe. My eyes scanned over the contracts, documents, and plane tickets inside, finally landing on a set of divorce papers.

On the day of the celebration, I wore a simple tracksuit to make it easier to move around.

Sierra, however, showed up in that multi-million dollar custom gown, her perfect figure on full display.

Dante had publicly declared that the dress was a gift for his one true love, and now everyone was whispering, wondering about his relationship with Sierra.

Dante glanced at the dress, then turned to Sierra and said coldly, "Change."

When he saw what I was wearing, his brow furrowed. "Why are you dressed like that? Where's your dignity? You're the lady of the Moretti family."

"Fed it to the dogs," I replied.

In the dressing room, Sierra deliberately twirled in front of me. "This dress was supposed to be yours, but now it's mine. I'm going to take everything from you, piece by piece."

I slapped her hard across the face. "A bitch like you belongs in a kennel."

The yacht's deck was packed with every member of the Moretti family, along with specially invited politicians, business moguls, and reporters.

When it was time for the highly anticipated diving performance, the crowd erupted in cheers.

Dante stood on a high platform at the edge of the deck, bathed in the glow of a spotlight.

But when he introduced his partner, a flash of panic crossed his face.

"Ilara, what are you doing here?"

I gave the audience an elegant bow. The guests in the front row immediately started murmuring.

"Isn't that Dante's wife?"

"Are they performing together? How romantic!"

I took Dante's cold hand. "This is my surprise for you. Are you ready?"

As the crowd realized who I was, the cheers grew even louder.

Dante finally snapped out of his shock, remembering to keep up his loving husband act.

He pulled me into an embrace and gently kissed my forehead. "Darling, I'm so lucky to have you. I'm so moved."

"Mhm, the show is just getting started."

I smiled and held out my arms, signaling for him to attach the safety harness.

"Is this safe?" His hands were visibly shaking.

"Don't worry. Everything will go perfectly."

Dante fastened my harness and gently guided me to the edge of the platform.

I took a deep breath, feeling the salty wind blowing in from Lake Michigan.

A thick cloud of fog rolled across the deck, obscuring everyone's view.

Over the sound of the waves, I could hear Dante leading the crowd in a countdown.

"...Three, two, one!"

The fog cleared, and the searchlights instantly illuminated the platform.

The entire crowd held its breath, and then a wave of horrified screams erupted from the audience.
