Caleb's first instinct was to deny it.
"What are you talking about? If Lena's mom had passed, the hospital would have notified me immediately. It's impossible that I wouldn't have heard anything!"
But his assistant's reply was even more certain.
"Sir, I'm not lying. I came to the hospital and asked the nurses myself. Ms. Lena's mother passed away because she didn't get surgery in time. They couldn't save her."
