Far away from these demons.
But I hadn't done anything wrong. Why should I leave?
I needed to get revenge!
And I needed to rethink my ideas and how I see things.
I was not wrong to be sincere and kind.
I was good.
The next day was the rehearsal, and I went back to the house early.
When Shawn came to pick me up, I had already pulled myself together.
But he still noticed my swollen eyes.
"Did you cry last night?"
He leaned in and gently kissed my eyelids.
I was disgusted. "I was just missing my parents."
Shawn smiled and knelt down to help me change my shoes.
"Your parents will be blessing us from Heaven."
I looked at the swirl of hair on the top of Shawn's head and suddenly wanted to ask him:
If you can't be faithful, why do you want to marry me?
Don't you know that I can't tolerate betrayal?
When you and Chelsea were hooking up behind my back, didn't you ever think about how upset I would be if I found out?
In the end, I gritted my teeth and swallowed those words.
Shawn had been happily announcing to everyone that he was going to have a grand wedding to marry me.
I was going to turn that grand wedding into an absurd comedy.
And Shawn would be the clown in the center of the stage.
The wedding rehearsal ended in the afternoon.
As we were leaving, I told Shawn and Chelsea to wait for me in the car.
I went to find my assistant.
She was managing this multi-million dollar wedding that I designed.
After talking to her, she looked worried and hesitated to speak.
I ignored it.
I knew that my requests were unreasonable.
Making changes like this at the last minute would affect everything.
But I've worked on hundreds of weddings, and I've dealt with brides who were more demanding than me.
Why couldn't I be a demanding bride for once?
When I got to the car, the driver was gone.
Shawn was sitting in the passenger seat, and Chelsea was in the back.
The atmosphere was as awkward as ever.
I smiled mockingly at Chelsea's slightly swollen lips.
So that's why they were always blushing at times like these; they were aroused from making out behind my back...
I had naively thought they were fighting.
I got in the back seat and closed my eyes, exhausted.
"Where's the driver?"
Shawn said, "He went to the bathroom. I'll call him."
I gently hummed in response.
Shawn turned around and handed me my thermos.
The scent of pear and rock sugar filled my nose.
"Are you tired?"
He asked gently.
Then he looked at Chelsea and said, "Chelsea, come sit in the front."
"Oh, don't bother."
I opened my eyes, grabbed Chelsea's hand, and smiled at her.
"I have a lot of secrets to tell Chelsea."
Shawn frowned. "What secrets can't I hear?"
My smile grew wider.
"Of course, they're all about you. If you heard them, you'd kick Chelsea out of the car."
Shawn scoffed.
"Listen, Ms. Wilson, I don't care how much you disapprove of this wedding. Lindsay and I are finally getting married. You should try to be a little supportive."
Chelsea seemed to sense something and didn't fire back like she used to.
Her face stiffened, and she looked at me guiltily.
