I told her she'd find someone.
Now, she had.
Ace snatched the phone.
"That's enough. You're not here to take pictures of them."
Ace tossed the phone to Liam, and he gave it to Brittany.
...
After the fireworks, Brittany and I went to the restroom.
It was too crowded, so I didn't go in.
I heard Liam and Ace talking.
"You and Brittany seemed to have fun. It's been a while since you and Willow had fun like that, right?" Ace said.
"Yeah, Brittany reminds me of how it was when I first met Willow. She's so sweet and thoughtful, it's great."
"Maybe you should just leave things as they are. Brittany seems better for you. You're always complaining Willow is stubborn and that bothers you, right?" Ace said.
"We've been together so long, Liam. You can't just end that."
"Brittany says she doesn't want anything long-term, she is happy with the moment and the time she spent with you." Liam said.
"Ha."
Back at the villa, Ace suddenly kissed me.
Then he pulled back.
"Willow, you know you're the best you. Don't compare yourself to anyone."
I stared at him, like he was answering what Liam was saying.
How did he know me so well?
He knew my little habits that Liam forgot, what candy I liked, what movies I watched...
He went a little further than before.
I didn't say no.
He picked me up and carried me to his bedroom.
I've only ever been with Liam.
I didn't trust him when he was trying to win me over.
But he was so determined, and the way he treated my grandma and helped her out won me over.
Then, his parents didn't like me and cut him off.
I thought that would make him see we weren't right for each other.
But he didn't give up.
He worked and went to class.
Then his parents caved.
I finally let myself be with him.
When my grandma died, he held me and told me he was there for me.
He'd always be there.
Now that relationship was gone.
So I should move on.
...
On Friday, the group went to a resort for the weekend.
Liam's face looked upset when he saw the room arrangement.
He talked to Ace in private.
"You guys aren't gonna share a room, right? Split the rooms."
"It's just a room. You know I hate her, you want me to sleep with her." Ace said.
I showed up, and Liam had to swallow his words.
The next morning, Liam dragged Ace away.
I was on the balcony and heard them.
"Did you guys sleep together?" Liam was angry.
"Were you listening to us last night instead of your girlfriend and not getting any sleep?" Ace said.
"Ace! Are you kidding me?"
Liam yelled.
"I don't need you to pretend to be Willow's boyfriend anymore!"
"So what are you gonna do?"
"Tell the truth?
About how you want to fool around with her friend while cheating on her girlfriend, so you lied and said I was her boyfriend?"
Ace laughed.
"Are you going to?"
"You!" Liam choked.
"By the way, what about your new girlfriend? You seem to like her a lot."
Ace said.
"I agreed to a temporary relationship with her."
"I never was going to leave Willow, and Willow loves me!"
"She'll get her memory back, and I'll apologize and tell her I only want her, and she'll forgive me."
"And you took advantage of this to sleep with her?"
Liam was furious.
"I didn't think you would do that. You hate her, right?"
"Who said that I hate her? Didn't you guys said?" Ace said.
Liam clenched his fists.
"I can't believe you would dig such a big pit for me! You had dirty thoughts about Willow, and you used this to get her!"
"Dude, you set this up. You said 'He's my boyfriend.'" Ace said.
Liam was a mess.
"I already slept with Willow, and you like Brittany, so just leave things as they are, right?"
"Once Willow gets her memory back, I will apologize and make you feel at peace." Ace said.
Liam looked at him and laughed.
"I don't care that Willow slept with you, that might make her forgive me more."
"I'll end things with Brittany. I'll try to make things right. We'll see who she picks!"
I was on the balcony, playing with the flowers.
I saw Brittany listening to them and running away when she heard what Liam said.
