The difficult birth of first love, the redemption from my husband

Chapter 3

My consciousness began to fade.

In the haze, I thought I saw the chapel from my last life again.

The white drapes, the room full of lilies, the flickering candles reflecting in my tears.

And his voice, roaring with rage and accusations.

When Wyatt and I first met, I thought it was love at first sight.

He was a perfect gentleman, and I was the quiet, gentle type.

We were married for five years and never had a single fight.

He proposed after just three months of knowing each other.

I was a little hesitant about getting married so fast, but seeing how desperate he was to make me his wife, I said yes.

We went to City Hall that very day to get our marriage license.

But that was also the same day Isabelle got into a car accident.

Coincidentally, she had the same rare blood type as me.

Wyatt told me she was like a sister to him, someone he grew up with, and asked if I could please find it in my heart to help.

So, on the day I legally became Wyatt’s wife, I was at Preston General, giving Isabelle two pints of my blood.

Afterward, Wyatt looked at my pale, half-lifeless body and said with so much concern, “Hannah, maybe you should start banking some blood for Isabelle regularly. That way, if another accident happens, you won’t have to give so much all at once.”

My head was spinning, but I nodded.

I became her human blood bag for five years.

And I did it without a single complaint.

I was happy to do it.

Wyatt said he didn’t want me to overwork myself, so he spoiled me with healthy foods and an easy life.

I happily took on the role of the homemaker, making our house a perfect home.

From the big furniture to the smallest decorations, I picked everything with care.

Over the five years, whenever we got something new, I’d carefully pack the old things away in the basement.

That same basement became the chapel where they laid Isabelle’s body to rest.

Surrounded by all the objects that held our memories, I was slowly murdered by the man I loved.

I didn’t even know what would happen to Bella after I was gone.

It wasn’t until now that I finally understood.

Wyatt had only ever loved Isabelle.

Everything I thought was a beautiful romance was just a lie.

With the Preston family’s resources, they must have known about my blood type from the very beginning.

That was the only reason Wyatt ever came near me.

He needed to sweet-talk a permanent, reliable blood source to keep on hand, ready for whenever Isabelle needed it.

So much for love at first sight.

The proposal, the rush to City Hall… it was all because Isabelle had just been in that accident.

Now, in this new life, I refused to be his blind puppet anymore.

I fought to open my blurry eyes, forcing them to focus.

Slowly, Sean’s face came into view.

His eyes were wide with panic and fear.

“Hannah! Hannah, wake up! You can’t die, please, you can’t die!”

It turns out Sean had believed me.

He went to the surgical wing to check my story.

Then he ran to the maternity ward to find Wyatt.

He told me what he’d said.

“Wyatt, your daughter was really in an accident! Hannah’s upstairs giving her blood right now!”

Wyatt just stared at Isabelle, who was screaming in agony on the delivery table, and shoved Sean aside.

“How much did Hannah pay you to be in on this little act? Or did she pay you with her body? If you want her, take her, just get the hell out of my sight!”

Sean was furious as he told me the story, but I was so calm I felt nothing at all.

He also told me the number I gave him worked.

He’d paid a fortune, but the guy came through with the blood.

Isabelle was saved.

And I didn’t have to be drained dry.

A slow, deep breath of relief settled in my chest.

I had finally changed my fate.

And since Isabelle was alive, it was time for me and Bella to leave.

This was the last time I would ever be her blood bag.

“Bella?” I asked, my voice weak. “I want to see her.”

Sean’s expression froze for just a second before he spoke again.

“Hannah, you’re too weak right now. You need to rest. Once you’re feeling better, I’ll bring Bella over.”

The reborn me was no longer the naive fool from my past life.

I saw that flicker of hesitation.

I knew something was wrong.

“Where is Bella? I want to see her now!”

Sean looked like he wanted to say anything but the truth, but seeing the look in my eyes, he finally broke.

“Wyatt… Wyatt said Bella’s injuries were minor, that she didn’t really need a transfusion. He said an IV drip and some meds would be enough. So he ordered them to divert all the blood you gave… to Isabelle.”

“I only found out when I got back with the other blood units, but by then… Hannah, Bella didn’t get the blood she needed in time.”

“She’s gone.”
