The difficult birth of first love, the redemption from my husband

Chapter 2

The day of her funeral, someone whispered in his ear that Bella’s injuries were minor.

That I had refused to give Isabelle blood out of pure jealousy.

He dragged me into the funeral home chapel, screaming that his precious Isabelle wouldn’t rest in peace until she saw me pay.

Bella was next to us, crying so hard she was practically hyperventilating, but he didn’t even look at her.

He threw me to the floor and personally inserted the needle.

“You love giving your daughter blood so much? Today, you can give until you’re empty!”

“Who the hell do you think you are? Why do you think I married you? You were nothing but a blood bag for Isabelle!”

“And this little thing!” he spat, glaring at Bella, who had cried herself unconscious. “She was just the backup blood bag I made for Isabelle!”

“You two didn’t even have the decency to do your one damn job!”

“Now that Isabelle’s gone, what the hell do I need either of you for?!”

After five years of marriage, he finally told the truth.

Wyatt never loved me.

He married me, he had a child with me, all because Bella and I shared Isabelle’s rare blood type.

Isabelle never loved him back, but he still gave her everything.

Including his own marriage and my life.

And me? What was I?

Before I died, every time a blood bag filled, Wyatt would rip it from the stand and toss it straight into a trash can.

“I want you to feel what it was like for her,” he’d seethed, “to feel the life draining out of you.”

His eyes were wild, like even draining me completely dry couldn’t quench the fire of his hatred.

In my last moments, I watched my own blood flow out of me, filling a bag, only to be thrown away like garbage.

The pain in my body was nothing compared to the agony in my soul.

Before my eyes closed for good, I looked one last time at Bella.

My sweet baby girl, what will happen to you after I’m gone?

Now, I opened my eyes again, and hearing that Wyatt was in the delivery room with Isabelle didn’t cause a single ripple in my heart.

If she and her baby are more important than me and mine…

Then they can go be a happy little family of three.

I spoke calmly to Sean over the phone.

“I have to save Bella first. She needs 600ml. If you’re asking me to save Isabelle at the same time, you’re asking me to die.”

“You’re a doctor, Sean. You know that’s against every rule in the book.”

“Instead of wasting time trying to convince me, you should use the time it takes to draw my blood to get a delivery from another city.”

“I know a guy. I can give you his number.”

I didn’t care if Isabelle lived or died, but I knew if she died, I wouldn’t be allowed to live either.

Even though I sounded serious and sincere, Sean still believed Wyatt’s version of the story.

“Hannah, Wyatt warned me you’d use the kid as an excuse. You’re married, for God’s sake. Why are you so jealous of Isabelle? Cursing your own daughter like that… it’s just sick.”

I finally snapped.

“BELLA IS IN YOUR HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW! GO TO THE SURGICAL WING AND ASK! DO YOU REALLY THINK I’D MAKE UP A LIE LIKE THAT?!”

My shouting must have startled him, because he hesitated, then mumbled, “But… how do you know she needs exactly 600ml if they haven’t even started the transfusion yet?”

A nurse called my name.

I didn’t have time to argue with him anymore.

I ended the call with a flat, cold statement.

“I’ve told you everything. If you don’t believe me, go check for yourself. I sent you the contact. Whether you save her or not is on you.”

“Worst case, you can just wait till I’m done here and then drag my half-dead body over to save Isabelle.”

I hung up.

When you’ve already died once, there’s not much left to be afraid of.

Just like last time, after giving blood to Bella, my head started to spin.

But this time, it seemed the doctor had orders from Wyatt to just keep going.

He hooked up another bag, his face a complete blank.

As the blood slowly left my body, my vision started to blur.

I couldn’t even keep my eyelids open.
