Call of the White wolf

Chapter 21

Aella had woken up in much worse spirits than Logan. She hadn't taken her bath or made any efforts to freshen up, and was instead pacing the room angrily and swearing under her breath.

All the momentary passion that she had felt the night before had evaporated, leaving behind a sullen anger. It was as though it only took him to leave the room for a brief period of time before she could get angry again. Perhaps his very distracting body had made her lose focus throughout the night.

"How could he do this to me?! I'm his fucking mate!" She uttered angrily and balled her fists. She realised that her anger was reaching a dangerous level and paused for a moment to catch her breath. She closed her eyes and ran her hands through her hair, trying to control herself.

She could feel the anger turning into panic as she opened her eyes and tears fell from her cheeks. She felt trapped and claustrophobic. She knew that the people that were looking for her would catch up to her in no time if she spent any more time in Logan's pack. She needed to move, to run before she was found and killed like her parents. Logan may think his pack was safe, but she knew that nothing could protect her from the danger that was hanging over her head.

What made Aella even more scared was the fact that her being here would only endanger the members of Logan's pack. The wolves that were after her would stop at nothing to kill whoever stood in their way. She knew that Logan and his people would try to protect her from the enemies and they would definitely lose their lives in the process. She did not want to be haunted by the blood of innocent people for the rest of her life.

And for the worst part, Logan wasn't helping matters too. The stunt he had pulled last night by letting her sleep by him was utterly distracting. Last night she had found herself imagining what it would feel like to sleep by his side and be his partner forever, to warm his bed with her body at night. She had realised that she deeply wanted the stability and peace of mind that came with it. But Aella could not risk getting comfortable. Too much was at stake.

To top it all, he had to complicate matters by locking her up in his room with his smell all around her. She found it increasingly difficult to come up with another escape plan when his cedarwood scent was clogging her thought process. She needed the fresh air of the woods. Why did he have to lock her up in here?
