Chapter 1

Arthur Pierce was coming to pick me up in his car.

Arthur Pierce was a man who was always cool and restrained.

However, he let his new secretary sit in the passenger seat.

I knew, our marriage wouldn't last.

...

That day, Arthur came to pick me up in his car.

When I opened the passenger door, I was stunned for a moment.

A young, pretty girl was sitting in the passenger seat, smiling sweetly at me.

"Hello, Mrs. Pierce!"

The girl greeted me very politely.

But she didn't get up and make room for me.

I squinted my eyes slightly, and turned my gaze towards Arthur.

Arthur was looking down, taking a phone call, and he hadn’t noticed the undercurrents of trouble.

We had originally arranged to go to an auction together.

I was looking forward to this date with him, and I had deliberately dressed up, but I didn’t expect that someone else would be sitting in his passenger seat.

"Hello, Mrs. Pierce, my name is Seraphina Bell, and I'm Mr. Pierce's new assistant."

The girl’s lips curled into a warm smile.

The two shallow dimples that appeared were extraordinarily sweet.

"I heard that you two were going to a private auction tonight, so I asked Mr. Pierce to take me with him to see the world. Don't worry, I won't bother you two."

My heart sank instantly.

I knew this cold and perfect man in front of me too well.

He had always kept his distance.

He wouldn't easily allow others to get close.

We came together because of a marriage alliance.

After many considerations, we chose each other.

Outsiders joked, saying that I was going to be a widow.

But after we confirmed our relationship.

Arthur would embrace me with a gentle expression.

When he was moved, the corners of his eyes would also be slightly red.

He said, "You are my wife, we are a single entity, you are naturally different from others."

Today, something seemed to have changed.

But I'm not a dodderer who swallows her anger.

I’m Clara Brooks, and I'm furious and I don't have to look at anyone's face.

"Get out!"

I gave her a cold look and chased her away, showing no mercy.

The girl was stunned for a while.

She didn't expect that upon our first meeting, I would directly embarrass her.

Perhaps it was because my tone was too cold and harsh.

Seraphina was at a loss for what to do for a moment.

"I... I'm sorry, Mrs. Pierce."

The girl's voice was tinged with tears, and she sat in the back seat, looking crestfallen.

Arthur had just finished the call and looked at us.

He realized that I was angry.

Helplessness and indulgence began to appear on his face.

The man leaned over and fastened my seatbelt.

Realizing that the position had been adjusted, I re-adjusted it with extreme impatience.

After a series of adjustments, I became furious.

"Damn it, why does someone dare to change my passenger seat!"

The pressure in the car was freezing, and the girl was scared and didn’t dare to speak again.

Arthur’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he suggested to me in a calm tone.

"If you're not in a good mood today, let's go home first."

The woman in the rearview mirror was weeping silently.

I was extremely upset.

"Seraphina Bell, right? I'm not in the mood to go now, you can take a taxi back yourself, and Mr. Pierce and I are going home."

The girl's face was pale, and she looked weakly at Arthur.

The man didn’t mean to speak for her.

The girl got out of the car in a dejected manner.
