Betrayal Under the Moonlight: Kiss of the Dark Night

Chapter 7

What remained were the tokens Caleb had given me over the three years.

Runes unique to the clan.

Expensive gems and land deeds.

I picked out the valuable ones to give to my friend for safekeeping.

Once I left Silver Moon, she would anonymously return them to the Alpha family.

That way, we would be even. I wanted his scent gone completely.

The cheap trinkets, the ones meant just to make me smile...

I threw them all in the trash without hesitation.

I used to cherish even a simple crescent pendant because it carried his scent.

Now, as I tossed it, my heart felt nothing. Even my wolf didn't bother to look.

Done. I carefully wrapped my mother's photo and the moonstone necklace—pulsing with energy—and placed them in a hidden compartment of my suitcase.

I walked out of the place I had lived for ten years without looking back.

As I walked out of the gates, Caleb's signature black SUV pulled up.

I didn't even glance at it.

But the car stopped right beside me.

The window rolled down, revealing Caleb’s handsome face. His Alpha aura washed over me.

My gaze skimmed over him, indifferent. I kept walking.

"Ivy."

Caleb frowned, seemingly annoyed by my coldness. "Where are you going with all that stuff?"

I was dragging two huge suitcases. Walking was difficult.

I had no energy for small talk.

I ignored him and kept walking.

Caleb got out of the car. In a few strides, he was in front of me.

"Do you want a ride?"

"No thanks."

I sidestepped his hand.

He grabbed my wrist. His Alpha strength made it impossible to break free. "Ivy, why are you being so stubborn?"

"Cry a little, like you used to. Bare your neck and show submission. Maybe I'll go soft."

I ripped my hand away with force and looked at him with a calmness I had never possessed before. "Caleb, I don't need that anymore."

I didn't need to cry. I didn't need his pity.

Time and again, my wolf had grown tired. She had lost all desire for him.

"Fine. Suit yourself."

Caleb scoffed, but disbelief lingered in his eyes. No wolf leaves their fated mate that easily.
