The day Isabella came back, Damian had the "mate bond dissolution" papers ready.
He'd been wanting to do this for a long time so he could pursue her again.
Just as he wished, I called the pack elders and our lawyer and went to his office.
"I agree to break the bond," I said, looking at him calmly.
Damian looked surprised.
The lawyer handed us each a copy of the agreement.
I quickly signed my name with a flourish.
When it was Damian's turn, he hesitated. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the pen.
The lawyer spoke up. "Alpha, you can take your time to think it over."
I knew what Damian was feeling. You get attached to a pet dog after a while. I had been following him around for sixteen years.
"I get custody of Leo," he said, his eyes searching my face.
I nodded.
I didn't want either of them anymore.
He stared at me, trying to find a trace of the sadness, the heartbreak, the reluctance he expected to see.
But there was nothing.
He tightened his grip on the pen and signed his name with angry, forceful strokes that nearly tore through the paper.
I was already looking at the asset division statement. Satisfied, I walked out of his office.
"Alpha, should we publicly announce the dissolution of your bond with the Luna?" the lawyer asked carefully.
"No. She's just throwing a tantrum." The words seemed to calm Damian down; even the frown on his face relaxed. "Don't leak a word of this. She'll come back on her own."
She just has amnesia, he told himself. She's forgotten me and Leo. She loves me so much, she loves our son. She'll remember soon. And when she does, she'll come crying back, begging me to reform the bond.
Damian's dark mood lifted instantly.
While he and Leo were out, I called for three moving trucks.
I packed up everything that was mineāall my designer bags, clothes, jewelry, and skincare. I even packed the expensive decorations and gifts I'd bought for them, things they never even used. I was going to sell it all.
The house was suddenly empty, stripped of its Luna, cold and lifeless. Damian always hated clutter. Now, he had his wish.
I thoughtfully left plenty of space for the new lady of the house.
