I was a senior partner, but I still respected him.

Full of questions, I went to the conference room.

Lexi and the guys were already there, looking angry.

"Sue, come in, sit down."

Mr. Harrison smiled as he asked me to sit, not a trace of anger on his face.

He went straight to the point:

"Lexi cried during her first hearing, but you can't say that's a problem!"

"If you hadn't interfered, she might have pulled it together. We might have won anyway."

"Sue, you're being too harsh. I'm not blaming you, of course."

"But this suspension and apology, I don't think they're necessary!"

Mr. Harrison spoke smoothly, but he put all the blame on me.

I lost my smile and said:

"Mr. Harrison, do you think I messed up?"

My protégé was quick to answer:

"He's right! Lexi did a lot of research!"

"She just got nervous and couldn't react!"

"You took over and made all her work useless."

Sean added:

"New lawyers aren't as skilled as you, but you started there too!"

"You stole Lexi’s credit and want her to apologize? She's already upset!"

They changed their tune, trying to use morality to attack me.

I replied:

"I didn't cry for Sean in court. Don't compare me to every idiot."

"Lexi is on my team, so stay out of it!"

"I'm punishing Lexi!"

"Enough!" Mr. Harrison snapped.

"Sue, you're a senior partner, but you don't run this place."

"I'm still the founder! If I say Lexi’s fine, she's fine."

"You need to calm down. Hand over the two-hundred-million-dollar case to Sean and Wyatt!"

That case was my focus.

My team was working nonstop to win it.

If I gave it up, I'd be alone and powerless.

Then, he turned to leave.

The sudden change made me dizzy.

Mr. Harrison's favor toward Lexi didn't make sense.

He was willing to protect an intern and suspend me.

Ignoring our bond, he was ignoring the money I brought to the firm, which was more than Lexi ever could.

But my respected mentor was lying to my face.

"Mr. Harrison!"

I rushed out to stop him, trying to defend myself.

But Sean blocked me:

"Sue, he taught you everything, you can't turn on him.

"He's just pointing out your mistakes. You're being too stubborn! You're too cocky!"

I didn't care what Sean and Wyatt thought of me.

But Mr. Harrison laid the foundation for my legal career.

He pushed me to fight for justice and fairness.

But now, he was going against everything he taught me.

I trembled, but I controlled my voice:

"I don't accept this!"

"I don't agree with your view of the incident, and I think I handled it right!"

Mr. Harrison's face darkened:

"I knew you were stubborn, but you're so petty!"

"Lexi has talent, but you can't let her shine?"

"If you're so jealous, you should quit!"

The firm didn't know the details of the trial.

But they believed Mr. Harrison's criticism and started gossiping.

He was an eloquent lawyer who could easily paint me as a bad person.

I bit my lip, trying to explain.

But someone barged in, a hint of amusement in their voice:

"Instead of arguing, let's look at the evidence."

"Evidence beats words, right?"
